 How much sugar are you supposed to eat                                                                      Do you know how much sugar your meant to have and not to have  and not meant to have.  
Did you know that the amount of sugar for a pre-teen per day is 5 teaspoons. Men and women have different amount of sugar their meant to have. Men are 9 teaspoons a day and women are allowed 7 teaspoons a day.
 

Did you know that coca cola has the most sugar than most food. A can of coke has 3 teaspoons. so that frozen coke at the movies which is more than a can has 30 teaspoons of sugar!!!no wonder my brother is a bit nuts at the movies!
Most of you will have a muesli bars as a snack, well some of them have so much sugar such as a milo bar which has 2 ½ teaspoons of sugar.
Some muesli bars that you might think that they are healthy are really not, such as nature valley.  My Dad has a nature valley bar with yogurt every night after dinner, the bar has 3 teaspoons of sugar and his yoghurt has 4 teaspoons. So Dads snack is a whopping 7 teaspoons! And he's meant to have 9 teaspoons a day.
Most of you will have fruit and veggies in your meals which would give you your daily limit  of sugar which is naturally occurring in foods.

But the sugar in fruit and veges
Are natural sugars, not added sugar. Most parents buy processed food from the supermarket because it is much easier and cheaper than making the food      
And these foods have added sugar and lots of it.         
Who knows what too much sugar does to your body? Well the most common disease is type 2 diabetes which is caused by eating too much sugar. You can also get heart disease and huge mood swings. If you have no sugar for a week scientist have said that you most likely feel so much better.  Too much sugar can also cause obesity

But it is important to have balance I. Your life, Apparently if you have square of chocolate a day you will feel so much better.  However a square of chocolate is not the same as a bloc of chocolate. 4 squares of Whittakers  chocolate is 3 teaspoons of sugar, if you eat the whole block it's 44 teaspoons!! My mum says it's a weeks worth of sugar right there!
I hope you learned some more things about sugar in my speech. I asked mum if i could have a square of chocolate a day she said no, she's already eaten it!
